Slow Week

I’m sorry, it’s sort of a slow week on the blog front.  But there are definitely rumblings all over The Warehouse Theatre!

The Upstate Shakespeare Festival’s King Lear has two more weekends - Thursday-Sunday - so make sure to catch that!

The Distracted Globe is still in rehearsals for Much Ado About Nothing - opening June 14.  Make sure to check out their blog and their YouTube channel for nearly daily updates on the rehearsal process.

Now it’s REALLY Summer

Last night was the final performance of Bad Dates - the final show of our 33rd season.  Now, our thoughts can really turn to summer.

The Upstate Shakespeare Festival’s King Lear has been going great down in the park - and received a great review from The Greenville News.  They’ll continue tonight at 7:00, as well as the next three weekends: May 24-27, May 31-June 3 and June 7-10.  As always, admission is free, but we thank you in advance for any small donation you can make.

Next week, there’s also some great improv comedy coming up from The Distracted Globe Theatre Company next week.  So join us at Camp Aye-Wonna-Dolla for milk and cookies, campfire singalongs and silly stunts like only summer camp can do it.  May 24 @ 8:00 and May 25 @ 10:30.  Admission is only $5, but you’ll have the opportunity to bid on different occurrences throughout the evening, so bring a couple extra bucks… and your footie pajamas.

Tonight

The Upstate Shakespeare Festival opens its first show of the summer tonight!  King Lear opens tonight at Falls Part on the Reedy at 7:00 tonight.  Bring a chair or a blanket, maybe some munchies, and get there early to get a good seat!

And tonight begins the last weekend of Bad Dates at The Warehouse Theatre.  Playing tonight, Friday and Saturday at 8:00.  Don’t miss it!

Countdown to this Weekend

This weekend is, as you know, the closing of the last show of our 33rd season - Bad Dates.  And, as part of closing weekend, join us for a special additional talk back after the Friday, May 18th performance.  Any audience member at the Friday performance will receive a coupon for a free drink and the opportunity to join the actor and director for a cozy Q&A at Latitude.  We’ll see you there!

Meanwhile… in the park…

Did you know that there are two distinct versions of King Lear?  In the quarto, it’s called The True Chronicle of the History of the Life and Death of King Lear and His Three Daughters and The Tragedy of King Lear in the first folio.  Fascinating, eh?  There are all kinds of fun facts in the Wikipedia article on King Lear… so bone up on your Lear and head down to the Falls Park May 17-June 10.

But before all that…

Of course, there’s plenty going on at The Warehouse before the 07-08 season gets going.

First and foremost - we still have 4 performances of Bad Dates - the last show of the 06-07 season.  Read the reviews here and here… then call us for reservations!  Playing TODAY (May 13) at 3:00 and May 17-19 at 8:00.  See you soon!

Make sure to check out The Upstate Shakespeare Festival’s production of King Lear opening this Thursday, May 17th and playing through June 10th Thursday through Sunday at 7:00 in Falls Park on the Reedy.  Then come back July 26-August 19 for As You Like It.  Upstate Shakespeare performances are FREE (though donations are gratefully accepted).

And resident company The Distracted Globe has begun rehearsals for Much Ado About Nothing, playing June 14-24 at The Warehouse Theatre.  Visit The Distracted Blog for daily rehearsal updates and videos.  Then come back July 19-29 for Hay Fever by Noel Coward.  But before all that join The Distracted Globe May 24 @ 8:00 and May 25 @ 10:30 for some short-form improv comedy!

There’s always something going on at The Warehouse… so keep checking in for updates!
